Bob Berg's untimely passing was a terrible shock and deeply saddening. We spent a lot of time listening to music and practicing together when we were in our early twenties and I was always amazed by his gifted ear, smooth technique, rich sound, serious swing and incredible musical intensity. Bob was truly an honest player whose music came right from the heart. He could play with great ferocity yet never lose his natural sense of lyricism. He left his indelible mark on the entire musical community. We will all miss him.
